English Homework - Grade 8

Homeworknow is back online!!!

Go there for details today...but just in case...here's today's homework:

Monday Assignment –

-Come up with the longest word you can that starts and ends with a vowel, but that has no vowels in between...like aha but longer!

-Read and answer questions to chapter 19.

-write a paragraph of 3-5 sentences as a new post on your blog...without ANY punctuation! Try and build sentences that SHOULD have all of the following... :;.""...'?!,\

-Wednesday Recitals and Debates

Visit three blogs and DO BETTER – the three names below you on your class list here…if your name is at the bottom, go to the top of the class…make sense?

In each case, pick one of the poems (at least) and leave a comment with your name on it. Try and be real – leave some constructive feedback, and be specific. Say something positive, and make a suggestion if you can…

Possibilities – corrections, word changes, isolate a line to make it stand out, add more, take air words out, work on your incentive, etc…

Here’s an example of a brief but reasonably constructive note: (yours might well be longer and more helpful to the writer) If writers want to respond to comments on their blog, feel free.

Sam -

Just read your poem - thought it was great - very little air words, nicely polished, and I really like a few of the words you used: "see my true mileage", "destined to eternal solitude"...

Is there space between the "shallow desires" line and the final line for a bit of explanation?

For example:
Beyond their shallow desires
-belongings, image, envy -

See my true mileage.
